The Agriculture Minister Robert Persaud on Saturday made well on his promise to award the top National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) pupil Terron Alleyne for his exceptional performance at this year’s examinations.
Alleyne, who hails from the Regma Primary School in Region 10 gained 537 marks and said he worked “very, very hard” to achieve his outstanding results while adding that he expected good results but never thought that he would top Guyana.
He had related that he attended lessons around-the-clock, weekends included, while noting that the night before the assessment he studied hard and quizzed himself in preparation.
Persaud earlier this week presented a laptop to Alleyne. This was possible following a commitment made by Minister Persaud during an interaction with Alleyne at the “Grow More Food” Festival in Linden on August 06, 2011, which received overwhelming support from farmers and Lindeners.
The minister during the brief handing over ceremony told Alleyne to stay focused and continue working to achieve his goals. Alleyne noted that he is grateful for the computer and happy that the minister had delivered on his promise.
“I feel great about this initiative by the minister and I want to express my heartfelt thanks. This computer will serve me well in secondary school,” he said.
