Adrian Dutchin is new Road March King

Adrian Dutchin was on Saturday declared the Road March King, 2012 with his entry “I am Guyanese” when the results were released by the Mash Secretariat. In second position was Vanilla with “Rage” and in third place was Tropical and Mystic with “Regardless”.

In an interview with the newly crowned road march King, Dutchin expressed his gratitude to his thousands of fans who have supported the song. He also acknowledged Digicel, the media and his colleague Jumo Primo for the confidence they placed in him.

Dutchin said that he decided to write the song after taking into consideration that Caribbean people sing about their countries and Guyanese artiste sing less about Guyana. He is confident that the song will be appreciated by the thousands of Guyanese living in North America and further afield.

Dutchin is also recovering from the Carib Soca Monarch competition where he was adjudged third and is of the opinion that his presentation deserved a better place. This is the third time that the X2 singer was awarded with the Road March King title.

Meanwhile, more results showed that Digicel walked away with the best full costume in the large category, the king individual piece, male individual piece and female individual piece. Other winners in the Best Full Costume Large category were Banks DIH which was awarded second and Youth Coalition for Transformation (YCT) tied with the Culture, Youth and Sport Ministry for the third spot.

In the Full Costume medium category, the Ministry of Agriculture copped the first prize while the Tourism ministry took the second place and in the third spot was the Local Government Ministry.

In the first position in Full Costume small category, the Ministry of Education was given the first place with the Public Service Ministry coming in second and Rusal Bauxite Industry in third place.

The Education Ministry was awarded second place for their individual piece and Ansa McAl in third. Ansa McAl also copped the first position for the queen individual piece followed by YCT in second and Banks DIH in third.

This year, the Republic celebration was held under the theme, Mashin with pride; keepin we tradition alive”.
