A Shell Beach Adventure in Guyana

The Shell Beach area is a stretch of beaches along the coast of Guyana’s northwest district and more than 120 kilometres long. The area is a unique ecosystem encompassing mangrove forests, inland swamp forests and savannahs, and is bordered by the Atlantic seaboard where mudflats front the shore in some areas.
Shell Beach is composed entirely of mollusc shells in varying degrees of fragmentation and pulverization. Four of the world’s seven species of endangered marine turtles nest at Shell Beach including the Leatherback.
The area’s diversity is one of the richest in Guyana. It has more than 200 species of coastal and migratory birds, including the Blue and Gold macaw, Red-bellied macaw, Scarlet Ibis, Roseate Spoonbills, Caribbean Flamingos and Pelicans.
Shell Beach will be an adventure all the way for all nature lovers.
