A celebration of Caribbean style

Zarinah Hameed’s collections are a celebration of the chemistry between various natural fibres, fabrics, colours, beads, seeds and paints, and the radiance of the Caribbean persona.
The Guyanese designer has been in the business of fashion and fabric design for more than seven years, and has always been enthusiastic about creating unique pieces. She has made every effort to be part of as many local shows as possible, even if it meant working backstage with designers whose works she admires.

This exposure has afforded her a new understanding of what goes into designing and production. As the years passed, she sought to work along with designers such as Carol Fraser, Sonia Noel, Vashti Harlequin and many others. She has applied the principles she learnt through the experience she gained with these notable designers, and has branched off to create her own label, AZariah.
Under her label, the designer creates sexy, elegantly casual, fun and sassy yet strikingly upbeat styles for adults and children.
“I continue to work with established designers and ministries, and now my work has made a name for itself. I have been invited to many fashion shows and I have produced quality and unique pieces for many satisfied customers locally and overseas. I’ll be representing Guyana for the third time at the Inter-Guiana Cultural Festival coming up in July in French Guiana. Fellow designer Carol Fraser and I have been representing Guyana since the hosting of the festival in Suriname in 2011 and in Guyana last year,” she explained in an interview with Guyana Times Sunday Magazine.
