Twenty-nine ranks attached to the Guyana Police Force (GPF) graduated with masters, degrees and diplomas in various disciplines when the 52nd Convocation ceremony of the University of Guyana was held at the National Cultural Centre on Saturday last.
Recently retired Police Commissioner Seelall Persaud also graduated with a Commonwealth Master of Public Administration.
Police Commissioner Leslie James during his recent visits to the respective Police Divisions and who is also pursuing a Master’s Degree in Public Administration at the said institution urged ranks to pursue higher learning and commended those who already did so, either at the University of Guyana or other tertiary institutions.
Commissioner James underscored that “I (he) would like to see each member of the Force rigorously pursuing higher learning, after all, an educated workforce can turn around the image the Guyana Police Force currently has”.
Among those who graduated were three Superintendents, a Deputy Superintendent, three Assistant Superintendents, a Cadet Officer, an Inspector, three Sergeants, 12 Corporals, a Lance Corporal and four Constables. Those who completed that Commonwealth Executive Masters of Public Administration are Superintendents Brian Eastman, Dion Moore and Khali Pareshram.
Those who were conferred with Bachelor of Social Science Public Management were Assistant Superintendent Rockwell Delph
(Credit), Deputy Superintendent Lonsdale Withrite, Inspector Troy Benn, Sergeant Marlon Kellman, Sergeant Melissa Williams, Corporal Andy Bissessar, Corporal Travis Cush, Corporal Oseana Alleyne, Lance Corporal Raulwin Jack and Constable Timhol Williams.
Sergeant Fredericka Roach graduated with credit in the Bachelor of Social Science Social Work Programme. In addition, Assistant Superintendent Omesh Arjune, Corporal Adony Munroe, Constable Anneca Armstrong, Assistant Superintendent Seecharran Singh, Cadet Officer Waylon Wallace, Corporal Orlan Alleyne, Corporal Earl Cornelius, Corporal Arletta Richmond and Constable Lisa Williams all obtained degrees in Public Management.
Constable Kanesha Haywood obtained a Diploma in Accountancy while Corporal Tracey Joyce completed her Diploma in Banking and Financing.
Additionally, there were four ranks of the Special Branch/Intelligence arm of the Force who graduated with Master of Public Administration, Bachelor of Social Science Management, Diploma in Public Management and an Associate of Social Science Social Work.
The Guyana Police Force congratulates all of the graduates on their accomplishments and wishes them every success in their future endeavours. Moreover, the Police Public Relations Department will be doing an exclusive feature on each of the graduates very soon.
