A 55-year-old was jailed for six months on Wednesday after he admitted to slapping his reputed wife during an argument. Wayne Johnson, a labourer of Waterloo Street, Georgetown, appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts to answer to two charges. He admitted that on January 17 at North Road, Georgetown, he unlawfully and maliciously assaulted Carlann Smith. Acting Chief Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus on Wednesday overruled submissions made by attorneys for murder accused Marcus Bisram to have the Preliminary Inquiry (PI) conducted at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
