With the consumption of just under 1.6 million kilowatts of electricity at the rate of US$0.30 cents per hour, the Caricom Secretariat in Liliendaal, Greater Georgetown, was forced to set up a Photovoltaic Generation System to improve its energy network. The Secretariat launched the new generation system during a ceremony on Monday morning. Granger left for Cuba on Saturday last to undergo a follow-up medical evaluation by doctors at Centro de Investigaciones Medico Quirurgicas (Centre for Surgical Medical Research) CIMEQ. The Court of Appeal last year overturned the conviction and sentence imposed on 28-year-old Michael Persaud for the 2011 murder of his wife and ordered that he face another trial.
