An eight-year-old boy has been left traumatised after discovering the lifeless body of his teenaged sister hanging by a bedsheet in the back room of their home. Dead is a 13-year-old Ashrani Persaud of Lot 46 South Half, Bella Dam, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara (WBD). After months of issuing threats, the Guyana National Broadcasting Authority (GNBA) has finally taken legal action against three broadcasters who failed to honour their financial obligations. Among the three broadcasters who were served plaints for legal proceedings, the GNBA said one has since decided to pay all outstanding licence fees. A delivery truck driver, who was allegedly caught with cannabis in a milk tin, was on Wednesday charged for the offence and appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts. Forty-three-year-old Troy Grant of Wortmanville, Georgetown, appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty and denied the charge. It is alleged that on September 22, 2019 at Hardina Street, Georgetown, he had in his possession 156 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
