The NEW Guyana Pharmaceutical Corporation (New GPC) on Wednesday distributed several bursary awards to its employees’ children who would have written the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) examinations. Among those in attendance at this ceremony were the awardees, summer attachments of the company, staff members, and representatives from the Guyana Labour Union (GLU) and the Clerical and Commercial Workers Union (CCWU). Woman remanded over alleged murder of 3-yr-old son

The 26-year-old mother who allegedly killed her 3-year-old son on August 25, 2018 was, on Wednesday, arraigned for murder at the Cove and John Magistrate’s Court. Pat Brenda Ferrieria, a housewife of Foulis, Enmore, East Coast Demerara was not allowed to plead to the indictable charge when it was read to her by Magistrate Peter Hughes. Canadian mining company Guyana Goldfields has taken a decision to lay off approximately 80 local workers in a bid to consolidate its operations. Any rehiring would be contingent on their skills sets. Eighteen-year-old Eton Calistro was on Monday sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by High Court Judge Sandil Kissoon for stabbing a CD vendor to death July 18, 2015 at Soesdyke, on the East Bank of Demerara.
