Berbice man gets 23 years for killing East Canje ‘bad man’

A former aspiring lawyer who has been found guilty of manslaughter committed in April 2016 was on Wednesday jailed for 23 years. Twenty-year-old Davenand Dhandhari of Lot 27 Betsy Ground, East Canje Berbice was found guilty by a mixed jury in the Berbice Assizes two weeks ago, but returned to court on Wednesday for sentencing. Guyanese hairdresser jailed, fined G$2.3M for trafficking cocaine in vagina, stomach

The East Ruimveldt hairdresser who was on Sunday last intercepted with 100 cocaine pellets stashed in her vagina and stomach appeared before the Chief Magistrate on Thursday and was jailed for four years. Karen Stuffle, 46, who accepted ownership of her actions, told Magistrate Ann McLennan that she was paid some $US400 and given an airline ticket to traffic the illicit drugs.
