A pre-feasibility study has been completed for the construction of a new Harbour Bridge which would assist greatly in the reduction of traffic congestion in that area of the East Bank corridor. The Agriculture Ministry has invested in several new innovations to enhance the growth of mangroves along the country’s coastland. During a tour along the East Coast of Demerara last Thursday, Agriculture Minister Dr Leslie Ramsammy visited some of the mangrove planting sites at Mon Repos, Buxton, Victoria and from Le Ressouvenir to La Bonne Intention (LBI). Some 360 house lots were distributed to Region Two residents when the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH& PA) of the Housing and Water Ministry held yet another One Stop Shop exercise on Friday. Pandemonium broke out at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts last Friday when eight persons arrived in handcuffs in the presence of heavily armed ranks of the Guyana Police Force. They were charged for the murder of Meten-Meer-Zorg businessman Zulfikar Namdar and an armed robbery at Wakenaam recently.
