Shake it, babu!

Satiricus is no prude. After all, he is a Caribbean man. Growing up on a staple of double-entendre calypsos like Sparrow’s “Mr Benwood Dick” and wining down at Mash how could he be? But he’d been thinking that maybe things were getting out of hand with this new backballing. Now this had nothing to do with Satiricus’ inability to find a ‘backball’ partner: his wife had told him in no uncertain terms that he was ‘too damn old!” But here was Bench Cack complaining that Minister Eastford had offended him…

The ruling People’s Progressive Party/ Civic (PPP/ C) has called on all “patriotic Guyanese” to reject “purveyors of division”, and to support attempts being made to attain political consensus. A little bit more for golfing please

Dear Editor, It is always very refreshing to read about local golf. In Guyana, there is just one single course – at Lusignan – but it is the perfect setting for tranquillity, even while a furious course battle is taking place. An example of this was evident over the Easter weekend. This was when, the veteran, Patrick Prashad, flourished over the back nine, to record victory. It was the Woodlands Hospital Golf tournament, and it produced some great moments. Prashad, after a disastrous front nine of 42, shot a stunning…

The move by the Guyana government regarding cricket should be applauded

Dear Editor, I applaud the move made by Attorney General Anil Nandlall, through lawyers for the government, issuing a 21-day ultimatum, to the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB). The ultimatum implores that all records, relating to the failed Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), be rectified, to reflect the interest of Guyana. Right at the onset, I categorically announce that this is the way to go. Already, Jamaica and Trinidad are following in this vein. The local and regional cricket boards must be held accountable. For too long, these offices have been…
