Anu Dev, a student of Queen’s College has reportedly topped this year’s Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) for Guyana, with 15 grade ones, a top source at the Barbados-based Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) has said. Another student of New Amsterdam Multilateral School also copped 15 subjects, the source added. The Guyana/ Mississippi Chapter of Partners of the Americas recently met Farmer-to-Farmer Programme Deputy Director Meghan Olivier, who is here to assess the progress of that initiative and several other programmes. CJIA runway got thumbs up from ICAO in January – Benn

Transport Minister Robeson Benn told the National Assembly on August 4th that the runway of the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) was declared to be in excellent condition by the International Civil Aviation Organisation after an audit done in January last. Minibus driver in court for stealing woman’s gold rings

A minibus driver was remanded to prison by Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton for allegedly stealing a woman’s gold rings. Richard Craigen, 30, of 66 Broad Street, Georgetown, made an appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Friday, August 4, to answer to the charge of simple larceny.
