Religious TV channel soon to become reality

The establishment of an Inter-Religious Television (IRTV) channel dedicated to the broadcasting of religious programmes on a 24-hour basis is within reach. President Bharrat Jagdeo on Friday met members of the Inter Religious Organisation (IRO) at the Office of the President, and announced that funding has been made available for the setting up of the channel. A Soesdyke man on Tuesday appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry for a third murder charge. John Blanchard, 31, a vendor of Dr Charles Sand Road, Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts to answer to another charge of murder. Six Caribbean nationals graduate from aeronautical school

Six Caribbean nationals on October 27 graduated from the Art Williams and Harry Wendt Aeronautical Engineering School at Ogle, East Coast Demerara following their successful completion of the aircraft maintenance engineers programme. The students, who were the first batch sponsored by the LIAT Air Services, completed 31 modules in the classroom, 2000 hours of theoretical training and 4000 hours of practical training. A United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) report suggests that violence associated with the illegal narcotics and gun trafficking enterprises continues to be responsible for the high rates of serious crimes and criminality within the Caribbean region.
