The teen accused of killing a homeless man in Corriverton Market, Berbice was on Wednesday slapped with a murder charge and hauled before Magistrate Alex Moore.
Dave Jacobs, 19, is accused of killing Richard Persaud Kamaldeo, called “Tyie”, on January 3, 2020. Reports are 43-year-old Kamaldeo had been living on the streets for a number of years, often sleeping at the Corriverton Market.
On the day in question, Jacob and Kamaldeo had an argument, during which the teen allegedly armed himself with a sharp object and stabbed the homeless man.
Jacobs reportedly told the Police that he had gone to the Market looking for a place to sleep when Kamaldeo objected, saying that it was his place of rest.
Jacobs was remanded. The case will be called again on February 20, 2020 at the Springlands Magistrate’s Court.
